Two leading figures on the international piano scene, Evgeny Kissin and András Schiff, join forces for a programme dedicated to the four-hand and two-piano repertoire, where formal rigour meets vibrant folk energy. The luminous architecture of Mozart’s Sonata K. 448 opens the evening, followed by the intimacy of Robert Schumann’s Andante and Variations and Bilder aus Osten (Pictures from the East). The second half of the concert takes listeners to Eastern Europe with two works celebrating the colour and rhythm of the Slavic tradition: Smetana’s The Moldau (Vltava) and a selection from Dvořák’s celebrated Slavonic Dances.
