Between zarzuela, Spanish song, and Cuban influences, Lisette Oropesa opens the new chamber music season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. This year, the season opening will exceptionally take place at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, in the spirit of collaboration between the two institutions. As one of the most acclaimed voices on the international opera scene, Lisette Oropesa will perform in this exclusive Italian recital stop alongside pianist Alessandro Praticò, presenting a program titled Mis amores son canciones.

Lisette Oropesa will guide the audience through the most intense and representative pages of the Hispanic repertoire. The program features excerpts from famous zarzuelas, such as Francisco Asenjo Barbieri’s Canción de la paloma and Ruperto Chapí’s Carceleras, paired with 20th-century Spanish masterpieces such as Manuel de Falla’s Siete canciones populares españolas, Enrique Granados’s Canciones amatorias, and Joaquín Rodrigo’s Cuatro madrigales amatorios. The richness of Iberian folklore will also emerge in Joaquín Nin’s Cantos populares españoles, while an imaginary bridge to overseas atmospheres will close the evening with the melodies of Cuban composers Ernesto Lecuona, Eduardo Sanchez de Fuentes, Jorge Anckermann, and Gonzalo Roig.
