A tribute to Shostakovich for Tugan Sokhiev with two diametrically opposed works: the spectacular and brilliant Festive Overture and the meditative, twilight Cello Concerto No. 2, with soloist István Várdai. The program concludes with an immersion into the colors and melodies of the Orient from Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov.
