Prokofiev Ivan the Terrible

The oratorio Ivan the Terrible, derived from the soundtrack Prokofiev composed for Eisenstein’s film, vividly and dramatically tells the story of the power struggles in 16th-century Russia. The music, at times epic, at times intensely poetic with folk accents, makes the tale even more gripping. Daniele Rustioni returns to the podium of Santa Cecilia, with Orlin Anastassov as the narrator.
