The Winds of Santa Cecilia are the stars of a concert showcasing instrumental virtuosity across a wide array of timbres, with a program rich in curiosities, such as Beethoven’s effervescent pieces written for a ‘mechanical clock’ or Berio’s ironic Quintet Opus Number Zoo, where each piece is accompanied by a text interpreted by the musicians, culminating in a wind transcription of Gershwin’s suite from Porgy and Bess.
