Schumann Scenes from Goethe’s Faust
Inspired by the second part of Goethe’s Faust, in which the protagonist’s soul is transfigured, Robert Schumann creates the deepest and most intense musical interpretation of the writer’s most famous work: the secular oratorio Scenes from Goethe’s Faust. Daniel Harding leads the Chorus, the Children’s Voices, and the Santa Cecilia Orchestra with a vocal cast featuring Christian Gerhaher as Faust.
