Three leading figures on the international music scene—violinist Lisa Batiashvili, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet—meet in Rome for a program that spans a century of chamber music. The evening opens with the youthful lyricism of Shostakovich’s Trio No. 1, written when the composer was just sixteen, followed by another early masterpiece, Debussy’s Trio in G major. The journey concludes with Dvořák’s Trio No. 3, a work that epitomizes the composer’s dual allegiance: on one side, the influence of the Classical-Romantic tradition; on the other, his deep connection to folk music and song.
