Bach Mass in B Minor BWV 232
*Due to a recurrence of a back problem, Maestro Semyon Bychkov has regrettably had to cancel his appearance at Santa Cecilia. He will be replaced by the German conductor Reinhard Goebel, making his debut with the Orchestra and Chorus of Santa Cecilia. The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia thanks the artist for making himself available to step in at such short notice.
**For health reasons, soprano Miriam Kutrowatz will be replaced by Damiana Mizzi.
Among the highest creations of the human spirit (the work is inscribed in UNESCO’s Memory of the World register), the performance of Bach’s Mass in B minor is an unmissable event, a unique listening experience. In this great composition, Bach succeeded in synthesizing the main expressions of Christian thought, Catholic and Lutheran theology, into a single creation. On the podium is Reinhard Goebel, accompanied by a prestigious quartet of soloists.
