Mass for Saint Cecilia
On the 300th anniversary of Alessandro Scarlatti’s death, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia pays tribute to the master of Neapolitan Baroque with a program devoted entirely to his sacred music, coinciding with the feast of Saint Cecilia. Scarlatti’s contrapuntal rigor intertwines with an emotionally charged writing style, creating a true “theatre of spirituality.” The performance features the Chorus of the Accademia and the Ghislieri Orchestra conducted by Giulio Prandi, an ensemble renowned for its expertise in 18th-century sacred repertoire. A dual celebration bringing to light rarely heard works.
