The Cavea is the physical focus of the entire Auditorium project. Its double function – as both an open-air theatre seating 3,000 people, and a piazza – renders it the fulcrum of a new centrality within the complex with respect to the urban system.
When used as a ‘concert hall’ it is provided with a semi-circular stage made up of prefabricated modules, with an orchestra platform of about 175 square metres. The Cavea constitutes an especially interesting musical space. It could be regarded as a large roofless hall, since it is programmed like a true auditorium; the only difference being that it is outside.
