Emanuel Ax is a refined interpreter, equally at home in the classical and contemporary piano repertoire. His crystalline touch is particularly suited to one of Mozart’s most brilliant piano concertos, where the piano engages in a lively dialogue with the orchestra, alternating between melodic passages and virtuosic flourishes.
In the second half, the program features the evocative Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss, in which the composer expresses his love for nature and the majestic beauty of the Bavarian Alps.
On the podium is Semyon Bychkov, one of the great maestros of our time and a cherished presence in the Santa Cecilia seasons.
