Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5
*due to a hand injury, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason will be unable to perform in the concerts on February 5, 6, and 7 and will be replaced by Ettore Pagano.
A concert of high emotional intensity, featuring italian cellist Ettore Pagano as soloist in Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto, the composer’s deeply moving masterpiece. In the second half, the splendid horn solo in the Andante cantabile helps make Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 truly unforgettable.
On the podium is Lorenzo Viotti, at just thirty-five, making his third appearance in the Santa Cecilia concert seasons.
