Mahler Symphony No. 4
Daniel Harding continues his complete, chronological exploration of Mahler’s symphonies. This installment brings us to the radiant Symphony No. 4, a work that reflects on themes of death and childhood, infused with touches of irony, and concluding with the song “Das himmlische Leben” (The Heavenly Life) — here entrusted to the angelic voice of Christiane Karg.
Opening the evening is a special event: the Italian premiere of Violin Concerto No. 7 by American composer Alexey Shor (b. 1970), performed by Gil Shaham, a soloist renowned for his refined and expressive sound.
