A journey through the sensuality and spirituality of French music. The evening opens with the consoling serenity of Fauré’s Requiem — a prayer untouched by the terror of hell, illuminated instead by the hope of eternal light, enhanced by the celestial voices of Golda Schultz and Mikhail Timoshenko.
Next comes the dream of a lush, imaginary Orient in Ravel’s Shéhérazade, followed by the intoxicating, shadowy whirl of La Valse — a waltz poised on the brink of the abyss, symbol of an elegance on the verge of disintegration.
