Suk Symphony No. 2 “Asrael”
Asrael is the Angel of Death, who appears in the last moments of life to sever it but also guides souls towards resurrection. Czech composer Josef Suk, devastated by two personal losses, found solace in the music of this imposing and lush symphony, which has been revived by great conductors like Daniel Harding. The concert opens with Verdi’s Sacred Pieces.
