After the inauguration in Rome of the complete cycle of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies, with the performance of the First Symphony “Titan,” Daniel Harding and the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia will travel across Europe for a five-stop tour (from May 5 to 10) in some of the continent’s leading concert halls. The program includes Mahler’s First Symphony “Titan” and Dvořák’s Violin Concerto, featuring soloist Joshua Bell, artist-in-residence at Santa Cecilia. Additionally, in Frankfurt, the Blumine movement will also be performed — a section originally part of the First Symphony’s structure but later removed by the composer himself.
The program will be performed during the European tour from May 5 to 10, with stops in Spain, Germany, and for the first time, Katowice, Poland. The first concert will take place on May 5 at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, followed by a return to Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie on May 7. Concerts will continue at the Konzerthaus in Dortmund on May 8, with a debut performance at the NOSPR Hall in Katowice on May 9, and a final concert at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt on May 10.
