September opens at Santa Cecilia with an exceptional challenge: the complete works for piano and orchestra by Sergei Rachmaninoff, featuring his four Piano Concertos and the highly celebrated Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Performing them, over the span of just six days, will be Nikolai Lugansky, one of the most authoritative interpreters of Rachmaninoff’s music and the protagonist of a true piano marathon, together with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Stanislav Kochanovsky.
A rare opportunity to hear in their entirety the five great works that have made Rachmaninoff one of the most beloved composers by the public and the piano one of the symbols of his music.
Rounding out the program are the Second Symphony and the symphonic poems The Isle of the Dead and The Rock.

The performances will be recorded live by the record label Harmonia Mundi.
