Schumann Genoveva ouverture
Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3
Sibelius Symphony No. 5
A triptych of grand sonic landscapes marks the return to Santa Cecilia of one of the “lions” of the podium: John Eliot Gardiner. The Overture from Schumann’s Genoveva draws us into a Romantic drama — a tale of love and betrayal painted in dark, passionate colors.
With Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, the scene shifts entirely: an explosion of rhythm, irony, and dazzling virtuosity, brought to life by the ideal interpreter, pianist Alessandro Taverna.
Finally, Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5 transports us to the vast northern landscapes — music inspired by the majestic flight of swans, building gradually into a magnificent hymn to the power of nature.
