Haydn Die Schöpfung
“When I think of God, my heart is so full of joy that the notes pour out of me like a fountain.” With these words, Haydn expressed his serene and untroubled faith — a feeling that shines through in his magnificent oratorio in three parts, written in 1798, which tells the story of the world’s creation through music.
From the mysterious darkness of Chaos, we witness the birth of light, the blossoming of plants, the swimming of fish, and the flight of birds, culminating in the love duet of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Daniel Harding, together with an outstanding vocal cast, conducts this hymn to life — an experience of pure beauty that makes us feel like witnesses to a miracle.
