Bach Magnificat BWV 243

The opening works of this concert embody the “festive splendor” of Antonio Vivaldi’s music — a dazzling blend of vocal virtuosity and contrapuntal richness that defines the art of the “Red Priest.” The same energy and timbral variety shine through in J. S. Bach’s celebrated Magnificat and the Sinfonia from Cantata BWV 174.

The beauty of these works marks the debut of Rinaldo Alessandrini to the Santa Cecilia podium — one of the most authoritative interpreters of the Baroque repertoire. Joining him are the Orchestra and Chorus of Santa Cecilia and an international cast, for a truly unmissable concert.
