Biography
He has imposed himself in the most important international competitions: Geneva, Prague, Toulon, Munich, and Paris. Since his debut with the Suisse Romande Orchestra of Geneva, Alessandro Carbonare has performed, also as a soloist, with the National Orchestra of Spain, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra of Munich, the Orchestra National de France, the Wien Sinfonietta, the Berlin Radio Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra and all the most important Italian orchestras.
He has recorded a large part of the repertoire for Harmonia Mundi and JVC Victor also giving great impetus to new clarinet music, commissioning new concerts to Ivan Fedele, Salvatore Sciarrino, Luis De Pablo, and Claude Bolling.
A passionate chamber music lover, he has always been a member of the Bibiena Quintet and regularly collaborates with eminent artists and friends such as Mario Brunello, Marco Rizzi, Pinkas Zukerman, Alexander Lonquich, Emmanuel Pahud, Andrea Lucchesini, Wolfram Christ, the Trio di Parma, Enrico Dindo, Massimo Quarta, Luis Sclavis, Paquito D’Riveira and many others.
Always attracted not only to “classical” music, he also performed in jazz and Klezmer programs and has had important collaborations with Paquito D’Riveira, Enrico Pieranunzi, and Stefano Bollani.
Guest Professor in some of the most important Conservatories around the world (Royal College of London, Julliard School of New York, Superior Conservatory of Paris, School of Arts of Tokyo…) he has been part of the juries of all the most important international competitions for his instrument (Geneva, Munich, Prague, Beijing, the “K.Nielsen” in Denmark, and the “B.Crusell” in Finland).
At the personal invitation of Claudio Abbado, Alessandro Carbonare accepted the role of principal clarinet in the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and in the Mozart Orchestra with which, again under the direction of M° Abbado, played the basset clarinet in the K622 Concerto, which was recorded for Deutsche Grammophon and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award.
His social commitment sees him present to support projects that can contribute to the improvement of society through music education, in fact he has assisted Claudio Abbado in the social project of the Simon Bolivar Orchestra and the children’s orchestra of Venezuela.
Great success was achieved by the CD for Decca: “the Art of the Clarinet” and the satellite channel SKY-CLASSICA dedicated a portrait to him for the series “I Notevoli”.
Teacher at the Advanced training courses at the Santa Cecilia National Academy, he is also clarinet professor at the Chigiana Academy of Siena.
